OLYMPICS-OPNEING CEREMONY REHEARSAL 2012

LONDON OLYMPICS 2012
Opening Ceremony Rehearsal. 25th July 2012

So grateful to get a ticket from my buddy Andrew to this event. I didn't go to the opening or closing ceremonies in Sydney because I wanted to spend my hard earned cash seeing the athletes in action in all the events. This opening ceremony is completely different to the norm. Danny Boyle as a film director has made use of his skills in film and created this likened to a film with the focus being on specific parts of the action happening on small locations of the stage as well as the overall image. Themes and scenes were of British culture, life and history with a big sense of fun and comedy playing substantial part. The action on stage was recorded live for our viewing and his use of up to the minute technology, which is how we live our lives today, was an integral part of this stadium production. The audience participated with 3D glasses, dance movement, holding/waving the light panels in front of them and being part of the sea with cloths moving above our heads as well as other activities happening in the mosh pits on the ground. It was a wonderful experience to be a part of this and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening. The stadium architecture gives a sense of being closer to the action by having seating on the ground level and no shops or bars inside the stadium. I am impressed with the architectural design of Olympic Park: spacious, fluid, flowing and glowing.
